While new key fobs have been introduced since, they all work similarly to the fob first introduced on 2014 model-year Cadillacs. Here’s how to open a Cadillac key fob and change the battery inside:

1. Locate the release button on the side of the case and press it. This will reveal a metal key.
2. After removing the key, you’ll see a small opening. Insert a flathead screwdriver into the opening and gently separate the sides of the case. And that’s how to open a Cadillac key fob with a minimum of stress!
3. Once separated, you’ll find the circuit board on one side of the fob and the battery on the other.
4. Lift out the old battery–you may need to use the screwdriver to help dislodge it– and put in the replacement with the positive side facing down. The Cadillac key fob battery replacement must be a CR2032 battery, which you can order from our parts department.
5. Snap the sides of the case back together.
